Sian is an art psychotherapist currently working in a secure setting within the NHS and in private practice. Sian is interested in the way that the non- verbal aspects of the psychedelic experience can be witnessed, made sense of and integrated during art psychotherapy. The processes involved in making art are a form of active imagination in which the mind manifests and takes a physical form depending on the medium used. Art psychotherapy provides a creative 'container' to explore liminal spaces and bring insights into shared reality, to regain a sense of self and integrate the psychedelic experience into day-to-day life.
Art Therapy for Psychedelic Integration
An experiential session facilitated by two art therapists, inviting participants to explore psychedelic experiences through art. The workshop will include a grounding exercise, a creative exercise and discussion at the end. We will consider the potential benefit of creativity for integration of the transition between altered state and our shared reality - with the art bridging the gap between experience and insight. While participants will be invited to consider psychedelic experiences they might wish to integrate, this is a not a therapy session and we encourage everyone to choose experiences that are not too overwhelming and can be easily contained.
