Dave King

Dr Dave King co-founded Breaking Convention in 2011 and sat on the board of directors until 2020. He is now a Trustee. Upon graduation from King's College London School of Medicine, Dave was awarded the Dr Abbas Khan Medal for his contributions to drug policy. He completed his NHS Foundation Training at Ipswich Hospital as a Foundation Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Dave is the former Director of Research at CDPRG, where he co-authored several white papers on drug law and policy. He sat on the Medical Psychedelics Working Group at Drug Science as a Policy Expert until 2021 and was invited to present evidence to Parliament by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Mental Health and the APPG for Drug Policy Reform.

Dave's research spans ethnography, public policy, medical humanities, basic science, clinical research, and synthesis. He has co-organised 9 international conferences, co-founded two student societies, directed two award-winning lecture series, and co-edited four books of essays on psychedelic science and culture.
