Annette Kaye is the UK facilitator for Ligare, a charity at the intersection of Christianity and psychedelics, and a facilitator for Christic Psychedelic Retreats. A spiritual director, Transpersonal therapist, trainer and supervisor, she is informed by Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises, which offer profound wisdom for discernment and integration of psychedelic experiences, particularly those involving mystical or spiritual encounters. The Christic retreats, held in the Netherlands, incorporate Christian prayers and practices to hold space for psychedelic journeys.

Psychedelics meet Christianity

Are there psychedelic experiences described in the Bible? Were the Saints on mushrooms? Is there a meeting place for these two worlds? There is in fact a vibrant conversation and community growing at the intersection of psychedelics and Christianity. Priests are tripping and returning to their congregations with a revitalised faith. Ordinary people are discovering the great ‘More’ that the saints speak of. In addition, the ancient practice of Christian discernment, and the Christian mystical tradition are emerging as full of wisdom in the preparation, holding and integration of psychedelic experiences, particularly those involving mystical and spiritual encounters.
