‘Hyphae Mind’ a collaboration with fungi
Marion Smylie

My interdisciplinary arts practice focuses on ecology and the curious entanglements of interspecies relationships. I work in a bio-inclusive way, collaborating with dynamic non-human beings who encourage me to think differently. I find the metaphors that arise from my relationship with fungi helpful. Fungi breaks boundaries, connects, decomposes, explores, builds, recycles, builds and evokes a sense of wonder- an essential tool for the times in which we live.

The dictionaries, which were withdrawn from the library, are a response to our need to question outdated language and structures. The sketchbooks, filled with drawings from botanical inks and charcoal made in the woods and planted with spawn, reflect natural cycles of making and unmaking. Initially trained in theatre, I studied BA Visual Performance at Dartington College of Art and later worked as an illustrator. I have recently graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from Arts University Plymouth.

Oizys' Labyrinth: Navigating Anxious Futures through Cyberdelic VR Innovation
Awen

Oizys' Labyrinth is a ground-breaking, immersive virtual reality experience that skilfully blurs the lines between human emotions and technology, creating a truly Cyberdelic experience for users. Our innovative creation is founded on two fundamental concepts: transhumanism and AWE. By embracing the transformative power of AWE, the audience is able to be fully captivated in our bespoke landscapes.

Awen enhances human capabilities and transcends the limitations of our physical world, inspiring users to marvel at the endless possibilities of their emotional transformation. Awen is a start-up exploring a radical new approach to the future of the mental health problems that will emerge in the next few years as we form a new and connected relationship with XR technology. You will be experiencing our latest prototype, which stems from our co-founder's previous ten years of working on emotional manipulation with his "The Waldorf Project".

The Hypnagogic Light Experience
Light Attendance gmbh

The Hypnagogic Light Experience induced by the powerful neurostimulator Lucia N°03 will quickly lead you into an altered state of consciousness, legally and without substances. Linger in the careless beauty of the eternal now. Experienced light travellers can enjoy a longer session, whilst newcomers will be introduced to a world of unexpectedly beautiful and colourful visions, the like of which they might never have experienced (sober) before.

Lucia N°03 was developed by Dr. Engelbert Winkler (psychiatrist / psychologist), and Dr. Dirk Proeckl (medical neurologist/psychologist) who are the patent-holders and is still manufactured in the Tyrolean Alps of Austria. Bookings are taken on the day at the installation.

Array Infinitive
Leslie Deere

Array Infinitive is a PhD research project that explores audience experience in audio-visual VR art practice. The studio-led performance piece draws upon ambient audio and colourful VR visuals generated, processed, and ‘played’ via gesture to a locally networked audience.

Array Infinitive sets out to create a shared group altered state experience. For Breaking Convention 2023 a participatory installation of the work will be on-site, including immersive projections and amplified sound. There are 7 VR scenes, travelling up the colour spectrum or chakra system. The minimal abstract VR worlds are accompanied by lilting soundscapes composed from recordings of Glasgow musicians including a cellist, harpist and percussionist as well as the GSA Choir.

This project reconfigures the architecture of spectatorship via a hybrid-audience, or collective of observers both in and out of VR. The paradox of this work is addressed through a new form of multidimensionality where some people are perceiving another visual world through hardware, yet still connected to the group through the physical space, the encounter and the sound. Array Infinitive asks the audience to find a transcendent form of relation, one of a visceral, shared experiential kind - to embody the experience and give-in to being affected together. The project was sponsored by Solarflare Studio in London. Bookings will be taken on the day at the installation.

Tipping Points
Mark Claydon

Tipping Points is an installation using neurally generated audio, vibration and light to journey through our world, trigger new states of consciousness ("It's like travelling through a jungle on acid") and inspire us to think collectively about our future.

The multi-sensory experience lasts about four minutes for each participant and has induced a variety of interesting states of mind.

Iridescent Cleanse
Jakob la Cour

This participatory artwork is an immersive mixed-reality performance that invites one audience to experience a virtual cleanse with both physical and digital artefacts to foster self-discovery, healing, and transformation.

Audience members are equipped with a VR headset. In a direct and personal meeting with the performer, the audience is led through an intimate multisensory tech-spiritual session.

Iridescent Cleanse is a 20-minute, 3-stage journey, accommodating a continuous flow of participants. It involves 5 mins sensory preparation, 10 mins multiplayer VR cleansing experience, and 5 mins integration & reflection.

The work is a continuation of Jakob la Cour’s exploration of the intersection between the bodily, mechanical and spiritual. Bookings will be taken on the day at the installation.

Deep Sym Experience
Kira Zhigalina

Sym is an interactive art object that visualises breathing, synthesising technology, art and wellbeing. Custom sensors in a cushion or belt pick up slow deep diaphragm breathing, visualising it in a soothing light. The experience allows the participant/s to focus on breath and breathing through the belly which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, improving physical, emotional and cognitive states overall.

Conscious breathing is an ancient tool for expanding consciousness and transformative experiences - non-drug-induced altered states. Sym allows participants to have a beautiful experience of harmony, within themselves, with others, and with the surroundings. One light can be used by two people and when their breathing rates are synced, the object animates with joyful rainbows. Sym is for symbiosis - a beneficial process in nature where connections beyond the self improve the overall ecology of being.

Recombination VR (TCS)
Julius Horsthui

Recombination is the latest project from visionary fractal artist Julius Horsthuis. Realizing that the best way to enjoy his work is immersion, he collaborated with seven of his favorite musicians in order to create an abstract journey through music, space and mathematics.

In order to get the most out of the hardware’s capabilities, Julius rendered the album in the highest possible resolution. The details in the fractals need to be experienced fully, therefor, we decided to make this album downloadable only, so it can’t be streamed. This means that patience and fast internet are required. But we promise it will be worth your time.

Music: Michael Stearns, David Levy, Max Cooper, Desert Dwellers, Ben Lukas BoysenTemple, InvisibleOtt
